At the front end of his career, Justin Kunz has already received national recognition as an artist. Recently selected to design new coins and medals as a Master Designer in the United States Mints Artistic Infusion Program, his work has also been included in the National Park Academy of the Arts Arts for the Parks show in Jackson, Wyoming, and received the top honor in the Freedom Festival Patriotic Art Exhibition in Provo, Utah.
In 2001, only two years after receiving a BFA in Illustration from Brigham Young University, Justin was invited to teach Life Drawing as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Visual Arts.
Kunzs work deals primarily with nature and the human figure in a narrative context. He approaches the concerns of contemporary subjects on the foundation of traditional painting and drawing principles.
His clients include private collectors as well as corporations and institutions such as Novell, Nickelodeon, LEGO, The Walt Disney Company, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the United States Mint.
Justin was born in Idaho and raised in the West. He and his wife Heidi live in Sandy, Utah with their two small children, Audrey and Joshua. Together they enjoy music, reading, camping, running, and outdoor sports.
